The School Bus Tracking and Child Locate Services reports the position of the school bus and provides a parent communication portal for the school. The position of the school bus can be plotted on a digitised geographical map on a computer. The application can be accessed over the internet or intranet. The system makes use of a GPS to identify the location of the school bus and a GSM network to communicate the location information to the base station. It also  uses the GSM network to send SMS alerts to parents in the events of bus reaching late at the pick up or drop points. The system provides a communication portal to the school and send automated alerts directly to parents on birthdays and scheduled or unscheduled school events. The portal can also be used to send SMS messages to individual or selected group of students by authorized users.

The application provides reports such as Route report, Halt  report,  Distance  report, Dynamic and Scheduled ETA report and Route deviation report. The Route report displays the route taken by the school bus to complete a trip and Halt report displays all the halt instances of the school bus greater than the specified halt interval. The Distance report displays the distance traveled by the school bus. The Dynamic ETA report displays the Expected Time of Arrival (ETA) at each student pick up or drop points and Scheduled ETA report for a current trip displays the actual time of reaching student points which are covered and the ETA for the remaining points to be covered. The Route deviation report displays any deviation of the bus from the standard route.
